Now just a day away from its imminent release, Cities XL 2012, the new edition of the famous City-Builder for PC, today unveiled its official trailer!

With more than one minute of impressive video, players can discover part of the immense new content offered by Cities XL 2012. In this new edition, Cities XL provides a staggering choice of over 1000 different structures (300 new ones) for you to build the cities of your dreams. 15 new maps make their appearance (for a total of 62), each bringing its load of challenges for all virtual city-planners.

The flooded canyons around Lake Powell, the basin of a dried lake, an oasis lost in the middle of a harsh sandy desert, and the Cayman Islands are just some of the new, original maps that offer players new, varied challenges such as a fractured or rugged landscape, landlocked constructible areas and restricted access to natural resources. All this is superbly illustrated in the video trailer we are pleased to unveil today.

Cities XL 2012 will be available on Tuesday 20th of October in retail stores (Europe and Australia) and for download (Worldwide). For all owners of the 2011 edition of Cities XL, Cities XL 2012 will be available for download in an "expansion" version at a reduced price.

Great trailer, I'm really excited now! :)

It doesn't show a lot of new buildings or features though.

Nice!

I see rail/Trains at 0.30 second into that video, does this mean they are now in this game?
Is it passenger or freight train or both? no excuses now saying it was an old video game feature that didn't make it into the game or it could be seen as false advertising!

It's subway I guess.

Also, thanks again for ignoring us. How can your company be so ignorant? Instead of actual info on the modding tools (almost everybody want it), you release trailer. It's nice, but absolutely useless as there is nothing new worth showing in the trailer. This must be joke and I guess modding tools are joke as well. If they didn't, you would announce more about them more....

I can't think out company with worse PR at this point...

There's no such new content in CXL2012. The trains/rail you see there are the metro trains/rail from CXL2011 (which you can make above ground, but there are just not above ground stations - until the NEXL mod develops further).

are ok, I guess we await for NEXL mod then.

One suggestion - Focus should employ and work with the NEXL Team to build and further develop the NEXL mod into a fully tested and stable game expansion pack, packed full on new game features & bug fixes. Hell I would pay for a decent expansion like this if it was an official stable release full of new game play features and bug fixes etc.

Nice trailer.

The train will confuse some people, but that's how marketing works :D
