FYI - I have been playing the Cities XL 2012 for three hours now at max graphics and it's been running like a charm. Frame rates have been great, and smooth. Not sure what happened but suddenly it's fun to build. Im on a Alienware M17x.

There won't be an CXL 2013. Modders are already creating powerful modding tools or mods. For example in www.xlnation.net you'll find many EXCELLENT modding tools in progress. Can't wait for them :)

How do you know there won't be any future Cities XL releases?

The modders have not released modding tools. The modding tools were released by Focus.

I'm not an expert sorry for this. I'm only guessing that there won't be any future expansions or add-ons. I suppose there won't be new, because after the first release many were disappointed. I don't know...i'm just guessing. I think FHI did not fulfill our demands again in the 2012 edition. They allowed modders to make miracles, like the Network epxansion that it will be amazing when it will be released.

There are issues like the multi-core support that can be fixed. Also, Focus could work on increasing the performance of the game. So I would not be surprised if Focus releases a new version of the game next year or in a few years.

I wouldn't hold my breath though.

Anyway, enough off-topic posts. This thread is about the 2012 release.

Well I hope Focus will continue to make new official features for CXL, 'cause I bought CXL 2009, CXL 2011 (2 copies) and now CXL 2012 (as new game, not the upgrade). I hope this could be a little sign that I really appreciate the good job they've done till now. At this moment Focus is the only interested to offer a good citybuilder... now I'm going to build another town :)

Hey fellow City simolians!

Just to add my 2 cents, had Cities XL 2011 for the last 6 months and Cities XL 2012 is virtually no different in performance, if not worse for me. Maxed 1920x1080 2XAA FPS is fine but for some reason now my city has got to 20k population I get frequent/random freezes that last milliseconds and after 20 minutes playing while putting up with that I get Major slow down when placing roads to the point some clicks are not even registering. :(

I feel nothing was changed with regards to performance (Not saying It hasn't!) it just feels this way, and im my case worse.

I have just installed a fresh fully updated windows 7 onto a 120gb Corsair F Force 3 SSD, previously on an 80gb Intel SSD. Fully updated chipset/audio/gfx. Asus Rampage Extreme III, I7 4.2Ghz, 5970 Volt modded to 900/1100 and 6GB Corsair Tri-Channel Dominator. It just isn't good enough. The "fix" for multicore (Changing the affinity) didn't work.

I'm very dissapointed with this "patch" "expansion".

On a happier note, I just love reading your guys city journals and have read many many hours worth of tips and advice from you all here. (Just never registered or posted before now!)

Bring on the big fix Focus, this game is truly the king for sim city builders! It really is being held back by poor performance, not lack of content, imo!

Eh..I am sorry MinDBlank, but the multicore "fix" is a hype, and I dont know who initially mentioned it. It was never announced by Focus and never attempted fixed. Focus is a publisher, not a developer. Better not expect any of your mentioned issues ever to be solved.
