Windows 7 64-bit Compatibility?

Postby reddog093 » 11 October 2010, 00:07

How will the game's compatibility be with Windows 7 64-bit? I've had a lot of issues with the older version of Cities XL and am hesitant to spend more money on the game unless it works well for my system.

Be sure that this issues doesn't come from your Win7 64bit OS, I for myself and many others are playing on that OS and never had problems. The game has full compytibility with Win 7.

I have Windows 7 64bit and it runs fine. Cities XL 2011 should and will most likely support win.7 more then cities xl did.

This. It's likely you, not the game. Worked perfectly for me.

I had tried the game on all 3 of my Windows 7 64-bit systems and all had performance issues with the game. My main system, at the time of purchase, was an AMD Phenom 9600 BE with dual 9800GX2's in Quad-SLI and 4GB of High Voltage DDR2 @ 1066.
However, I also had performance issues with both of my Win 7 laptops. Both have more than enough CPU and GPU power.

It may have been more of a multi-core, multi-gpu issue than a Windows 7 issue. To be honest, maybe the performance issues I experienced were resolved in the last few months with patches. I haven't played in a while, due to the performance issues I had and the shutting down of multiplayer mode.

When you say 'Performance issues' can you be more specific?

Windows 7 64-bit running generally fine here, some drops but most the time it's a steady 30+

Work around found for windows 7 64 bit steam version only....... go to drive:\programfile(86x)\steam\steamapps\common\citis xl 2012.... go to bottom of file look for vcredist_x86 (may have to try diffrent compalibility selections) let run make take a few minutes ...... should be able to run game after problem stems from C++2005 32 bit verson on 64 bit system the x86 file is 64 bit of the C++ file needed to run ...this should fix game not ava. at this time for steam users

Windows 7 64 bit are actually better that Windows 7 32 bit, because it can read more than 3GB. While the system requirements are 1.5GB for win vista/7, at least 2GB are needed for optimal performance and 4GB for the Super High Graphic Settings Mod. Windows 8 Developer Preview, the most recent OS from Microsoft, don't support Cities XL 2009, 2011, and 2012.
