How to completely delete a MOD?

Postby tmxkn1 » 22 October 2010, 02:17

As I found, only deleting the *.patch file won't remove the effect of MOD in the game. So, anyone knows how to delete the mod exactly? or, I have to reinstall the game lol.

Deleting the .patch file does remove the mod completely. Which mod is that you want to remove?

sandbox, report dialog etc.

well, I got a finding.
When you put .patch in a folder that under the location of Paks folder, the .patch file will still affect the game.
so, my problem was I backup the .patch files before I deleted them in the folder Paks/BackUp, and now BackUp folder is clear, mod disappears. :D

Of course, every file which is in the paks folder, regardless in which underfolder, is affecting the game. Because of that it doesn't make much sense to backup them in the Paks folder.

Yeah that's true.

If you have said that you have moved the file and not deleted it then I was going to tell you that moving it to a sub-folder isn't enough :P

I have CitiesXL Platinum running on a Windows 7 PC and I copied the .patch file for CN Tower (XLNation_BaniB3_CNtower_v1.0_oneLod.patch) from http://xlnation.net/content/cn-tower-toronto

Unfortunately for some reason it didn't run very well, and when I tried to remove the .patch file it's now seemed to cause a crash - everytime I load CXL Platinum and load my city, CXL Platinum just crashes.

Would really appreciate some help on how I can remove the mod and get things working back to the point before I installed the mod.

Thanks in anticipation.

When deleting a mod there's usually 2 steps to take:

i) delete the building from your city, save and exit
ii) remove the .patch file from your /paks/*
A fine site xlnation.net and a big mod database xlnation.net/xlex
